CEDAvsFan
https://www.mlb.com/news/luis-tiant-dies I learned about Luis Tiant 15 years ago when I read a book about the 1978 Yankees. Tiant was actually with the Red Sox that year, he's known for his years as an ace pitcher for Boston. 1978 was the year that the Red Sox had a 13½ game lead in the American League East in around August, only to end up tied for first place with the Yankees. The Yankees defeated the Red Sox in the famed one-game playoff for the division title on October 2 of that year, and it was Tiant who started that game for Boston. Tiant was quite the legend, very underrated as a pitcher. Yet he's another great talent who was never inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Shame on them.
